Pursuant to the Sacerdotal Council’s Decree for 5-year Plan of Religious Activities (From Year of the Dragon 2012 to Year of the Rooster 2017), The 2017 General Assembly of the Sacerdotal Council was held on 07 December 2017 (lunar month 20th October).
The General Assembly of the Sacerdotal Council was aimed at:
1. Approving the Sacerdotal Council’s report on religious activities of the past 5 years
2. Agreeing on the next 5-year Plan of Religious Activities from 2017 to 2022

United Religions Initiative (URI) Cosmic Community Centre and Dr. Alexander Mar Thoma Centre for Dialogue, Kottarakara, Kerala, India, jointly organized the 7th International Intertextuality Conference at Students Christian Center, Bangkok Thailand from September 1-3, 2017. Mr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam, a promising Cao Dai research fellow and Associate Professor at the Department of World Religions and Culture of the University of Dhaka was invited to attend the conference and to present a paper titled “A Critical Analysis of Creation Theory: Cao Dai Perspective”.

On Wednesday morning, 10th May 2017, the delegation of Cao Dai Tay Ninh Holy See’s Sacerdotal Council took the Air France’s flight AF 0253 to Paris - France, beginning their first European Religious Tour to visit and make presentation on the doctrine and philosophy of Cao Dai Religion to professors, students and doctoral candidates at various higher educational institutions.

On the 15th of February 2016, at 10.00 am, Cardinal Thượng Tám Thanh presided at the ceremony of ordaining Deacon Trần Quang Cảnh (religious name: Thượng Cảnh Thanh) to the religious office of Priest (Giáo Hữu). During the same ceremony, three other Cao Dai followers were ordained - two males to the office of Deacon (Lễ Sanh) and one female to the office of Deaconess (Nữ Giáo Thiện).
According to the ordination service program, the Cao Dai believers and dignitaries gathered in the temple, and standing duly and respectfully in their places, prayed to God and divine Beings.

On the 11th of February , the arrangement of 30 stands accompanying the Great Festival Commemoration Ceremony begun. They were set up along both sides of the Great Unity Square, from the Phạm Hộ Pháp boulevard to the Cao Thượng Phẩm boulevard. On the late afternoon of the 14th of February, the internal and external decorations were basically completed. They consisted of flags, flowers, and lights, creating an enchanting lively atmosphere consonant with the religious tradition. It became even more lively when more and more early visitors arrived.
