May 19, 2026
It was a great honor to visit the Cao Dai Holy See in Tay Ninh, one of Vietnam's most iconic religious sites. I had the privilege to meet Cardinal Thuong Tam Thanh and learn about Cao Dai philosophy and history, as well as the community's contributions to Vietnamese society. Religious freedom remains a cornerstone of U.S. foreign policy and an important element in the U.S.-Vietnam partnership.
I am grateful for your generous and welcoming approach. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Melissa A. Brown
Consul General, U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City Ho Chi Minh City

The visit concluded successfully at 4:20 PM on the same day. The presence of a high-ranking diplomat like Ms. Melissa A. Brown at the Holy See in Tay Ninh not only demonstrates concern for religious freedom but also serves as evidence of efforts to build cultural bridges and strengthen mutual understanding between the people of the two countries.
