SCHOLARS FROM SOUTH KOREA, TAIWAN, JAPAN AND USA PAID A VISIT TO CAODAI TAY NINH HOLY SEE

At 10:30 am Friday 29 December 2017, a delegation of distinguished scholars from South Korea, Taiwan, Japan and the US had paid a friendly visit to His Eminence Cardinal Thuong Tam Thanh, Chairman of the Sacerdotal Council of Caodai Tay Ninh Holy See in the Cardinal’s Office.
In attendance, there were also :
  • Archbishop Thai Con Thanh, Acting Principal Archbishop of the Buddhist branch
  • Archbishop Ngoc Thuong Thanh , Acting Principal Archbishop of the Confucianist Branch
  • Archbishop Ngoc Hong Thanh, Head of the Ministry of Interior of the Sacerdoce
  • Priest Thuong Canh Thanh, President of Cao Dai Overseas Missionary.
 
The delegation was composed of 21 members, most of whom are University Professors from Daejin University (Daesoon Jinrihoe) in South Korea, Weixin Shengjiao College in Taiwan and Tenrikyo Movement in Japan. The Head of the delegation was Professor Kim Chongsuh, President of KANR (Korean Association of New Religions). Also, Professor Edward Irons, from California and Director of HongKong Asia Institute joined the delegation.
 
Prior to the official visit to Cao Dai Tay Ninh Holy See, the scholars’ delegation had attended a Seminar on “Spiritual and Cultural Life in Vietnam and East Asia Countries Nowadays” held on 28 December 2017 at the University of Social Sciences and Humanity in Ho Chi Minh City. PhD Candidate Gregory Fraszczak from Wien University in Austria participated in the seminar, presenting a research paper titled “Creating a New Way of Wisdom – Caodai Culture.”
 
During the visit with His Eminence Thuong Tam Thanh, Prof. Fiona Chang Hsin-Fang, Director of R & D Center for Religious Affairs of Weixin Shengjiao, by the order of Great Master Hunyuan Chanshi, Founder of Weixin Shenjiao Association for World Peace in Taiwan, officially invited His Eminence Cardinal and a Cao Dai Delegation to attend an inauguration ceremony of  “Gui Gu Zi Wang Chan Lao Zu” Golden Sculpture Completion Celebration, which is planned to be held in Nantou City on 18th June, 2018. His Eminence was also invited to make a presentation on Caodaism at CESNUR 2018 (Center for Studies on New Religions) Conference at Weixin Shengjiao College.
 
Also in the meeting, Professor Lee Tae-Yeol – Head of Department of Religious Research and Edification in Daesoon-Jinrihoe offered an invitation to His Eminence and the Sacerdotal Council to pay an official visit to their religious headquarters in South Korea at His most convenience.
 
After that, Archbishop Ngoc Hong Thanh guided the delegation to visit the interior of the Cao Dai Great Temple and explain on how Cao Dai venerates God and Holy Divinities. He also explained the meaning of different symbols and figures, as well as religious rites and rituals of the religion. Then, the delegates attended the Cao Dai religious noon service and wrote their feelings and comments in the Cao Dai Visitor’s Golden Book. After the service, the delegates were invited to a vegetarian lunch at the Female Cardinal’s Office Hall.
 
The scholars’ delegation left the Cao Dai Tay Ninh Holy See at 2:00pm on the same day.
