69 STUDENTS JOIN THE CAODAI COURSE IN 2016

The BA in World Religions and Culture at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh aims to develop students' knowledge and critical understanding of the different aspects of religions and to cultivate intellectual skills such as the ability to evaluate different interpretations of the faiths and facts on the basis of historical, sociological, psychological, anthropological, philosophical, and theological approaches. As religion has been part of human experience from the earliest traces of human existence, this honors degree aims to ensure a developed understanding of the relationship between religion and the different stages of human civilizations down to the modern period. Cao Dai religion, being an important part of religious history included in the early twentieth century, has also been crucial in the field of academic study of religion at different universities of the world. The University of Dhaka, for example, took this initiative first in 2004 with two research projects on Dao Cao Dai while two M Phil researchers named Mr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam and Mr. Md. Shaikh Farid produced wonderful dissertations on two different topics and they were awarded degree in 2009. Subsequently, the Department of World Religions and Culture introduced a regular course on Dao Cao Dai entitled The Cao Dai Religious Tradition since the academic session 2005-2006 on. Students take this course in the BA Honors 4th Year 7th semester. The fresh batch of BA honors in World Religions and Culture is to start class on Jan 03, 2016.
