NEW CONSUL GENERAL OF THE UNITED STATES IN HO CHI MINH CITY VISITS CAO DAI HOLY SEE IN TAY NINH

At 3:15 PM on May 19, 2026, a delegation from the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, led by the new Consul General, Melissa A. Brown, arrived at Tay Ninh Holy See. Accompanying the Consul General were Mr. Eric Borgman – Political Attaché, Ms. Jessica Yurcheshen – Consular Officer, and Mr. Le Minh Tri, Interpreter of the Consulate General. Welcoming the delegation at the Papal Hall were His Eminence Cardinal Thượng Tám Thanh – Chairman of the Cao Dai Sacerdotal Council, His Eminence Archbishop Thái Côn Thanh, and other dignitaries from the Caodai Sacerdotal Council. Also in attendance, representing Tay Ninh province were Mr. Tran Minh Nay, Deputy Director of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religion of Tay Ninh province, and other officials from the same agency.

The course "Cao Dai Religious Traditions" was taught at Dhaka University, Bangladesh, from 2005, under the supervision of Professor Mohammad Jahangir Alam until his death in 2024 while on official duty. Professor Injamam Mahbub Mojumder was subsequently appointed to continue teaching the Cao Dai course.
According to a recent report by Professor Mojumder, the Cao Dai religion course is taught in the second year of the Bachelor's program and is part of the courses on Eastern religious thought and tradition, code WRCH-UG205. It is a compulsory course for students.

On the morning of April 5, 2026 (the 18th day of the 2nd lunar month, Year of the Horse), the Tay Ninh Holy See welcomed a distinguished guest from Europe: Dr. Matthias Pöhlmann – a high-ranking representative of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria, Germany. This visit marks a significant milestone in introducing the Cao Dai faith to the global community.
The delegation was officially received and guided by Archbishop Ngoc Hong Thanh, Chief of the Interior Ministry of the Caodai Sacerdotal Council.

At 9:00 a.m. on the 26th day of the first lunar month of the year Bính Ngọ (corresponding to March 14, 2026), Rev. Thượng Cảnh Thanh (Trần Quang Cảnh), former Head of the Caodai Overseas Missionary, represented the Sacerdotal Council of Cao Đài Tay Ninh Holy See (Hội Thánh Cao Đài Tòa Thánh Tây Ninh), together with seven Cao Đài followers currently living and working in Taiwan, to attend the Farewell Ceremony for Grand Master Hunyuan Chanshi, the late Supreme Leader of Weixin Shengjiao in Taiwan.

At 6:00 PM on the 16th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Horse (March 4, 2026), Professor Christopher Hartney (University of Sydney, Australia) gave a presentation on the role of HH Hộ Pháp Phạm Công Tắc in the formation of Cao Dai Religion and introduced his book "How Heaven Works," which was a resounding success at Fulbright University, Ho Chi Minh City. This 345-page book was published and distributed by E.J. Brill in 2024.

On August 27, 2024, a Delegation of Cao Dai Dignitaries, Sub-dignitaries and followers from the United States, Taiwan and Vietnam came to Manhattan, Kansas, USA, to attend the World Religions Festival, organized by Kansas State University, at the invitation of Professor Michael Wesch, Department of Anthropology.
This first World Religions Festival is one of the events to celebrate the Opening Ceremony of the Course on New Religions of East Asia for students of the Department of Anthropology, Kansas State University, teaching 3 main Asian religions including Vietnam Cao Dai, Taiwan Weixin Shengjiao and Korea Daesoon Jinrihoe.
