CARDINAL THUONG TAM THANH PARTICIPATED IN THE 247th ANNIVERSARY OF THE INDEPENDENCE DAY OF THE USA

At the invitation of Ms. Susan Burns, Consul General of the United States in Ho Chi Minh City, at 4:00pm on June 23, 2023, Cardinal Thuong Tam Thanh, Chairman of the Cao Dai Sacerdotal Council of Tay Ninh Holy See, along with Rev. Thuong Canh Thanh (Tran Quang Canh) came to the Grand Ballroom of the Sheraton Hotel on Dong Khoi Street, Ho Chi Minh City, to attend the Reception Ceremony to celebrate the 247th Anniversary of American Independence Day.
 
The ceremony was attended by the US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper and Ms. Susan Burns, Consul General of the United States in Ho Chi Minh City, along with about 500 guests.
 
Attending the reception on the government side were the special attendance of Former President Truong Tan Sang and Mr. Duong Anh Duc, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
 
After the ceremony to salute the national flags of Vietnam and the United States, Consul General Susan Burns delivered an opening speech referring to this year as the 28th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United States and Vietnam, talking about the achievements of the two countries. surpassing in terms of economy, education, culture, society, environment, tourism and industry between the two countries.
 
This was followed by a speech by Mr. Duong Anh Duc, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, praising the good relationship between the US and Vietnam, and congratulating the 247th Independence Day of the US.
 
Finally, Ambassador Marc Knapper invited all the guests to make a toast to celebrate the 247th American Independence Day.
 
Cardianl Thuong Tam Thanh cordially chatted with Ambassador Marc Knapper and presented him a gift with the image of the Cao Dai Tay Ninh Holy See. The Cardinal also did not forget to respectfully invite the Ambassador and the Consul General to visit the Cao Dai Tay Ninh Holy See if there is a chance.
 
The reception ended at 6 pm on the same day.
