Updated 2020-10-09 02:05:47

(Dhaka Oct. 7, 2020 - Reported by Rev. Canh Tran)

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman handed over a cheque of MPhil Research Grant of Cao Dai Overseas Missionary (CDOM), California, USA, for this year 2020 to Injamam Mahbub Mojumder at his office on Wednesday October, 7, 2020. The Chairperson of the Department of World Religions and Culture, Professor Dr. Fazrin Huda and Dr. Mohammad Jahangir Alam, Associate Professor were present at the event. The grant was $1,200 *One Thousand Two Hundred US Dollars.

Prof. Dr. Huda has mentioned that she appreciated the Board of Directors of Cao Dai Overseas Missionary for this research grant and hoped that CDOM would continue to promote research grant in the advanced level in many years to come with the Department.

As you may recall, the Department of World Religions and Culture conducted a Cao Dai course for the past 15 years. Under the leadership of Dr. Kazi Nurul Islam, who introduced the Cao Dai course in 2005, Dr. Islam encouraged a bright student, Mohammad Jahangir Alam, to excel in Caodaism and by 2009, Alam received his M.Phil Degree. Alam continued his advanced studies, and last September 2020, received his Ph.D in Caodaism. As for the Caodai course, Dr. Alam has reported that he had 85 students in 2019, and 90 students in academic year 2020 (Jan-June 2020).

The following is the request from Dr. Alam to CDOM on why he chose Injamam Mojunder to receive a M.Phil Research Grant 2020 :

Injamam Mahbub Mojumder has been known to me since 2015. When he first attended my class on Caodaism, he impressed me by showing his questioning mind for acquiring knowledge and curiosity in the field of Cao Dai study. His notable point is that he is always trying to learn something new. As per my observations, during his B.A. and M.A. programs in World Religions and Culture, besides Caodaism I taught several other courses in all of which he signed as a symbol of excellence. Finally he stood first in B.A. and M.A. This is why I think that his academic approach will help him to get outstanding knowledge for his higher study in MPhil program titled The Concept of Interreligious Harmony in Sikhism and Caodaism: A Comparative Study.

To sum it up, I choose Injamam Mahbub Mojumder for Cao Dai Overseas M.Phil Scholarship 2020 as the best candidate who will enable him to show his great excellence in current research under my supervision.
